Tagline (for posters, etc)
Smart people doing something stupid for no apparent reason.
Delusional people build, row, and race boats made solely of cardboard and duck tape in an insane effort to recapture the American dream.
125 Word Summary
Once a year, a group of highly educated and successful people (scientists, doctors, lawyers, pilots, piano teachers, etc) meet to build, row, and race very unseaworthy boats made solely of cardboard and duck tape. The tape can only be used to seal seams, cannot be wrapped around the boat, and so odds are stacked against the participants. Also, there is no real reward for the winner. Why then compete in this race? The answer is because it’s not a race, it’s an experience, and sometimes it takes a completely stupid, pointless, and futile gesture like this to remind us of who we really are.
