In a world dominated by collegiate professionals with great big fat asses sitting around talking to each other, one man submits for your approval a contest of delusional people building, rowing, and racing boats made solely of cardboard and duck tape in an insane effort to recapture the American dream-and in so doing putting the amateur back in amateur sports.

In other words, Cardboard Titanics is a short documentary that focuses on a group of highly educated and successful people (scientists, doctors, lawyers, pilots, and artists) who meet once a year to construct and race these very unseaworthy boats from unreliable components. There is no real reward, it’s just a delightfully stupid way to spend a day off from work. If anything, Cardboard Titanics teaches us one thing: smart people doing something stupid for no apparent reason is funny as hell.
